Cleveland State is a different kind of university – a metropolitan university inextricably linked and committed to the livelihood, viability, and progress of the city of Cleveland and Northeast Ohio.
Since its founding in 1964, CSU has championed an educational environment and experience committed to access, opportunity and excellence.
ENGAGE: The Campaign for Cleveland State University is an opportunity to invest in both the University’s and Northeast Ohio’s success.
At a time when higher education is being pressured to be more responsive to the public’s needs, Cleveland State University embraces these responsibilities, is aggressively responding to the charge, and is gaining recognition as a best-in-class engaged urban university.
College graduates earn $1 million more over their lifetime than high school graduates.
The merger between campus and community is accelerating the development of Cleveland’s urban core while partnerships with Northeast Ohio Medical University, Playhouse Square, Cleveland Play House, the Cleveland Metropolitan School District, Parker Hannifin and many others are boosting the economy, knowledge base and quality of life.
88% of first-time, full-time CSU freshmen rely on financial assistance to help pay for college.
Such partnerships, coupled with a breadth of academic programs, excellent faculty, academically talented students and a cutting-edge research agenda, make CSU unique in its ability to mobilize the talent, knowledge and resources this community requires to solve problems and maximize opportunities. With an estimated 60% of jobs expected to require post-high school education by 2020, CSU is committed to providing that education and helping students succeed.
State support is just 31% of CSU’s budget.
ENGAGE: The Campaign for Cleveland State University seeks $100 million to provide merit and need-based scholarships and expand and strengthen workforce and career preparedness for emerging graduates.
This campaign, CSU’s first, is an investment in the future of the University, our students and Northeast Ohio. Today’s students are this community’s future talent pool and workforce and will join thousands of CSU graduates who have been influencing and advancing our community’s collective good for 50 years.
For every dollar of state funding received, CSU generates more than $7 in gross domestic product for the Cleveland metropolitan area.
The evidence of the past, the attributes of the present, and the vision for the future hold great promise for us all. We invite you to partner with us on ENGAGE: The Campaign for Cleveland State University.
