As a double alumnus of Cleveland State, Mark Lantz, embraced his college experience, graduating in 1987 with a degree in English, serving as Editor-in-Chief of The Cauldron and completing a master’s degree in applied communication theory and methodology, all while working during his time at CSU.
For Lantz, Cleveland State University was his only option if he wanted to go to college. “I grew up in a working class family in Euclid. If you were going to go to college, Cleveland State was where you went. It was affordable and the commuter-school experience meant I could work while going to school or vice versa”.
In gratitude for his positive experience at Cleveland State and to help ease the financial burden of earning a Masters in Arts degree, Lantz created The Mark Lantz Scholarship Fund. This scholarship will support student pursuing a Master of Arts in Applied Communication Theory and Methodology.
“I know that Cleveland State students work hard for what they have; my hope is that this scholarship will provide room for students to focus more on their studies and in turn develop a stronger work ethic to move them forward”
For the past 26 years, Lantz has worked in various adverting agencies across the nation. Today, he is the Founder and Executive Creative Director of Factory, an advertising agency based in Detroit. Lantz is also a member of the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences Visiting Committee this year.
