For 35 years, Kristine Gill taught nursing at The University of Akron. Today, the CSU alumna and her husband continue to inspire future nurses through the Kristine M. and Richard A. Gill Endowed Nursing Scholarship.
The scholarship supports students pursuing a bachelor of science in nursing degree in CSU’s School of Nursing.
Dr. Gill earned a master’s degree in education at CSU in 1978, followed by a master’s degree in nursing and a Ph.D., both from Akron. Now retired, the Associate Professor Emerita serves on the visiting committee for CSU’s School of Nursing. She also is a 25-year member of the Summit County Board of Health. Richard Gill is the owner of GAR Enterprises, a real estate management and investment company.
The couple has endowed nursing scholarships at Akron and generously supported friends and family seeking a college degree or vocational/technical education.
“Educating the next generation of nurses has been my life’s work,” says Dr. Gill. “With this scholarship, I am proud to help CSU nursing students achieve their dream of becoming compassionate care-givers. I have always believed that creating a scholarship is a better investment than the stock market.”
