The strong partnership between CSU, the Cleveland Foundation and the Cleveland Metropolitan School District (CMSD) continues to provide educational opportunity. Recent Cleveland Foundation awards to CSU include:
– A grant to support the Teaching Fellows Program in the College of Education and Human Services. The pilot project supports 35 academic-year, paid internships for senior-year education students in CMSD early, middle, special education or secondary classrooms. The Teaching Fellows program is part of the College’s commitment to enhancing the pipeline of highly qualified eligible teacher candidates to be considered for hire by CMSD.
– A grant to support Computer Science for All Students in Cleveland, “CS4ALL,” in the Washkewicz College of Engineering. This program supports computer science courses for CMSD students and provides resources for professional development opportunities for teachers to expand their use of computer science in the classroom. Phase one is focused on offering computer science courses in all CMSD high schools within three years with the long-term goal of expanding the classes into the district’s middle and elementary schools.
